Make your own DIY potion from the movie ‘The Emperor’s New Groove’ in less than thirty minutes! Includes a free Llama SVG file to get you started.
What is this post about? Oh yeah, right, the poison… the poison for Kuzco! The Emperor’s New Groove has always been one of my favorite Disney movies since I was a kid. If you’ve seen it, you know that the poison for Kuzco actually turned him into a llama instead of its intended purpose. Thus, Kuzco the llama was created!
I’ve seen a few people DIY a quick potion for Kuzco and really wanted to try it myself. Our local Dollar Tree had a package of the perfect potion vials and inspiration struck! This craft is super easy to make, makes very little mess(if any!), and most crafters may have all the supplies needed at home.
As an added bonus, I’ve included a FREE Llama SVG in the Supply List below that looks a lot like the one in the movie The Emperor’s New Groove. So feel free to download and cut it with your Cricut, or even use it as a template for cutting and tracing your own. Let’s get shakin’!
This cute DIsney craft is great fun for Halloween or a Disney themed birthday party. Once you’ve learned how to make DIY potions you will want to make all sorts of cool mixes on your own!
The supplies listed here are easy to find in your local craft store or even at a discount store. Our Dollar Tree just started carrying some glitter / micas so they are pretty easy to come by now.

How To Make LLama Potion
These homemade potions make excellent DIY gifts and party favors! Perfect goodies for your favorite Disney fan and would even make great stocking stuffers.
First, let’s mix together our main potion ingredients! This is the fun part! 😁 For my DIY potion mix, I first put about 1 cup of water into a clear container and added ONE drop of red food coloring. In a separate cup, I added 1 cup of water and mixed in a generous amount of purple mica powder and pink mica powder.
Then, from the cup with the red food coloring, I spooned a couple of spoonfuls of that red food coloring mix into the cup with the mica powders. This was just to give it a tinge of a brighter hue, and if I would’ve had more of a neon pink food coloring available, I probably would have opted to use that instead—but it works!
It’s so pretty watching the mixture swirl around! 😍
Once you’re happy with the coloring of your mixture, grab your syringe and fill it up! Fill your potion bottles or vials with as much of the glitter potion as you want to. I liked mine looking pretty full—just save room for the cap. This part TOTALLY made me feel like a mad scientist. 🤓
How gorgeous are these?! Now just add a dab of super glue or E600 to the potion bottle cap and carefully seal your potion.
For the finishing touch, either cut out the free Llama SVG file from the Supply List above using black adhesive vinyl and snip a rectangle out of white adhesive vinyl to layer for your label.
If you don’t have a cutting machine, simply cut a rectangle out of a slip of white paper and color your own llama using a black marker or Sharpie. Each idea can be adhered and then sealed with a coat of Mod Podge. Whichever works for you!
I think they turned out fabulous and it’s been so much fun mixing, making, and shaking our own version of Kuzco’s poison at home! I am going to display these along with my other Halloween decorations. They even make a pretty fun sensory toy for kids!
