Fuse beads are a fun way to get crafty and creative! The most commonly used brands are Perler beads, Hama Beads, or even Melty Beads. (Here is a great breakdown between the differences of each brand of bead!) They’re a total blast for both adults and kids of all ages to play with. Older kids(and adults!) with pokemon obsessions will love these creative perler bead designs. Younger kids can work on these fun projects and will have a great time while also developing fine motor skills.
Pokémon enthusiasts will delight in seeing their favorite characters come to life in the perfect pixel form! We used inspiration from around the internet to piece together a new pattern that includes the 3 original starter pokemon choices (Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle) and perler text pattern ‘CHOOSE YOUR STARTER’ to pay homage to our Poke trainer roots. They’ll make a great gift idea for pokémon fans, or lovers of the video games.
So, what are you waiting for? Let’s catch ’em all!
Pokemon ‘Choose Your Starter’ Craft
Take a peak at just how easy it is to create a perler art canvas project! With a peg board and just a little bit of time, you can make a unique pokemon gift idea for your favorite trainers.
Creating this easy perler bead design is simple and involves very little material to make it. The most challenging part of this fun craft was locating the proper green for the Bulbasaur perler bead pattern. Here’s how to get started!
SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR PERLER ART:
- 8″ x 16″ Canvas
- Paint
- Peg Board
- Iron
- Parchment Paper
- Super Glue or Hot Glue
- Perler Beads – Colors (Black, White, Tan, Yellow, Turquoise, Parrot Green, Orange, Red)
How to Make Pokemon Starter Perler Art:
Put on your favorite season of Pokemon and craft each perler bead design before moving on. Use any of the photos above as your reference for the patterns for text, and each pokemon. If you’re new to perler art, here is a basic how-to guide to help you finish your design.
Once your pokemon art is fused together you can begin prepping your canvas. Paint the background of your canvas any color you wish. I chose a robins egg, greyish blue to resemble the original color of the gameboy screen. Let it dry completely.
Finish up the Pokemon themed perler project by gluing your designs down to the canvas.
Now… the real question is, which pokemon will you choose?! Keep scrolling for even more awesome perler bead pokemon art from around the web!
