In this step-by-step tutorial, we’ll show you how to create your own custom conversation heart pillows with the free printable templates below. Whether you’re decorating for a Valentine’s Day party or just want to spread some love, these will make the perfect quick and easy craft.
Supply List For DIY Conversation Hearts
Use our free printable heart template and a few basic craft supplies to make the cutest impromptu Valentine’s Day gift! Here’s what you’ll need to get started:
Hover over each of the four free templates below and right-click to save each individual image to print at home. When printing the heart design, I recommend setting your printer to print with 0 margins for an even wider heart.
How To Make This Felt Pillow Craft:
Making your own heart shaped pillows is super easy! Each pillow comes together in about thirty minutes or less, and can be a fun craft for adults and kids—with a little supervision.
First, cut out your heart template using our free templates shown above, just below the ‘Supply List’ section.
With a pencil or light marker, trace the cut out heart shape onto a piece of felt.
Trace the heart cut-out twice so you will have a front and back for your own DIY felt plushie.
Next, cut out the letters for each conversation heart. Little hands may need a little help cutting out some of the tight letters.
Carefully trace the cut-out letters onto the red sheet of felt. Then, use a hot glue gun to place each letter on what will be the front side of the heart plushie.
After you’re done gluing the letters down, you can then glue the Front side of the plushie to the Back side using a bead of hot glue down the inner edges. Leave a small-ish hole towards the top of the plush so you can fill it full of Polyfil. Stuff your plushie with as much fluff as you desire! Just make sure you can still pinch the top closed to finish gluing all of the sides together.
Give your plushie a few good squeezes to spread the filling out evenly…. annnnd you’re finished! 👏
