Since the debut of Laika’s movie, Coraline, I have been borderline OBSESSED with the movie’s creepy, yet cute storyline and all of its wonderful movie characters! It’s the perfect coming of age tale that not only inspires but captivates it’s watchers with it’s incredible visuals and playful themes. It’s definitely become one of my go-to comfort movies!
This year I’m thinking of throwing a Coraline themed Halloween party and after scouring the internet I found some really awesome crafts and fun projects that I just had to share with you. There’s a squishy edible banana slug recipe, a DIY Button Pinata, and even printable Coraline party invitations. DIY Coraline Trinket Dish
I was so inspired by these Coraline crafts and activities that I wanted to make my own Coraline themed craft project! Below you’ll find my homemade Coraline trinket dish AND two free Coraline inspired printable signs that would really tie together a Coraline party or even a teen’s bedroom decor. To make your own trinket dish, use sculpey or air dry clay like I did and create the perfect swirly shape(like the tunnel to the Other Mother’s house!). Then, I used black, blue, purple and pink spray paint – in that order, to mimic the pretty colors inside of the tunnel.
I’ve used polymer clay and a few simple clay cutters to make a button, seeing stone, and a circus ball from Mr. Bobinsky’s Jumping Mouse Circus! A cute gift idea for a fellow Coraline obsessed fan!
Printable Coraline Signs
The book “Coraline” by Neil Gaiman packs a load of progressive themes for both young girls and boys and teaches courage, strength, and appreciation. The printable sign below is a perfect reminder to remain brave in the face of fear(or the Other Mother!).
